Agia Anna is a village full of beautifully worth seeing places.
Somebody can admire the beautiful churches. Today
they exist three churches. The two are dedicated in the Agia Anna
and the third in the Virgin Mary. The old church of Agia Anna in the
center of the village as well as the church of Virgin Mary are built
in royal type, while the new church of Agia Anna is built in royal
type with cupola.
The beautiful rock houses that maintain the old traditional
way with which a residence was built, the beauty of the green
landscape, that can inspire the each sensitive worshipper of the something
beautiful.
Also in Winter, in the east side of the village a small waterfall
is created, when the river Tremithos carries water from the
sources of mountain Troodos , that has been photographed and placed
for a lot of years, in the cover of the book "I learn my environment
».
An other building that it can constitute a worth seeing place of the
village is the "Cultural Center", that
was completed in 1998. In this they become various cultural events,
particularly at the big feasts. In the Cultural Center it functions
a traditional Cypriot Tavern.
In the older years they existed and functioned at the edges of the
river, two watermills – flourmills, which with the
help of the coming water, they were milling wheat and producing flour.
Also they took water from the river and irrigated their fields. The
only thing that has remained today from the watermills, is one stone
arch.
In the borders of Agia Anna with Kalo Chorio, exist the ruins of a
very old church, so called Franco-church. This church
is almost completely destroyed and it is very likely that its ruins
will be lost.
Next to the church that is dedicated in Agia Anna, is found the Municipal
School. It constitutes one from most vivifying intellectual
and cultural forces of the village. The school via its activities
contributes to a large extent in the creation of the cultural movements
in the village. The events of the school assemble always-big interest
from all the residents of the village. The school participates each
year in the school competitions of the athletic region of Mosfiloti.
Before the Turkish invasion the school was constituted of a room and
in this studied only the children of Greekcypriots. Today the school
is constituted of three rooms. From certain evidences that exist,
it appears that for the foundation of the school, there was a benefactor,
who was named Nicholas Giakoumi.
The children of the Turkishcypriots before the Turkish invasion went
to their own school, a beautiful traditional building, that is one
of the most appreciable buildings of the village. It only has one
room; it is found under the shadow of the green eucalyptuses and is
maintained in very good condition.
